Chennai book fair - Another book fair added to the list of the 2020s book fair list

The Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) has released its press note announcing the dates of the Chennai book fair. The 43rd edition of the Chennai book fair is scheduled for 9th January to 21st January 2020. The 13 days long book fair will open its gate from 3 pm to 9 pm on weekdays and on weekends the timings will be from 11 am to 9 pm. The entry fee per person is 10 rupees only. The venue of the book fair is YMCA Grounds, Nandanam. YMCA grounds is also the venue of an event titled 'Chennai Reads’. Approx 5000 students from various schools will participate in the event and read books. This event is to spread awareness of the necessity of reading. This event will take place on 6th January 2020 before the book fair starts. For the Chennai book fair, publishers and booksellers have announced a 10% discount on all the books they will sell. This offer is to attract more and more students to the book fair. Organizers will also distribute free tickets thought different institutions so more people can come and enjoy the book fair. According to the statements of organizers, the most interesting part of the book fair will be the auditorium titled Keeladi-Eeradi showcasing the features of the ancientness of the civilization recently discovered in the southern Tamil Nadu. “The Department of Archaeology has consented to exhibit evidence related to Keeladi and also to educate the public,” they added. There will also be different competing events like drawing, quiz, etc for the students. They can compete against each other and showcase their skills.
